It is one of the harder facts of life, where men are
concerned, that women can have more than one orgasm, while they are
confined to a single, explosive moment. Or are they? Chase, in East Lansing,
MI, writes with a question about this very issue:

“My girlfriend can have multiple orgasms, but I can’t. What’s up with
that?"
Well, Chase, this is one of the many scientific differences
between men and women’s bodies. After you orgasm, there is a period of time
known as the refractory period – which is essentially a rest period – while
your body is recuperating. During a man’s refractory period, his body is taking
time to reload his gun, if you catch my drift. A woman, on the other hand, has
virtually no refractory period, and she’s ready to go essentially as soon as
she catches her breath. Now, a man who is young and healthy may be ready to go
in 20 minutes or so, but as you age, that down time becomes longer and
longer—up to several hours. And for an older man, the refractory period may be
indefinite, meaning if you orgasmed once, you’re not going to do it again that
day, period
Now, some men have been able to achieve a sensation similar
to multiple orgasms by the use of tantric sex exercises. Essentially, they
allow themselves to push just to the verge of climaxing, but then they pull
back. By doing so, they can experience orgasmic like contractions without
actually ejaculating – and this can extend the sensations for a longer period
of time. Now, this takes a lot of self-control and a lot of practice, and it
can be pretty frustrating, so some men just aren’t interested in going that
route. If you are, you can do a little bit of research on the techniques on
your own. However, if it’s just not for you, then you’re going to have to go
the old-fashioned way and just wait out the rest period. Sorry to say, but it
looks like your girlfriend is going to one-up you in this department. Good luck
and have fun!
