Considering penis size: What's normal and why not to worry

Brandon, in Portland, OR, sends in a question that almost all guys have wondered about at some point:

“I’m 17 years old, and I feel like I have a small penis. How long does it usually keep growing? Is there still hope for me?”

Well Brandon, that’s a good question. Obviously, each individual grows and matures at his own rate, so there is not one definitive answer to this question. Age of onset of puberty, as well as how quickly other developmental changes are happening in your life, are contributing factors to determining how much growth you still have left to do. A boy who reaches puberty at age 12, for example, will likely reach his full adult size much sooner than a later bloomer who doesn’t hit puberty until age 16 or 17.

Now, most men continue to grow in height until their early 20’s, so if they haven’t reached their full adult height, you can assume that other body parts haven’t reached their full length yet, either. So being 17 years old, I would say you probably do have some growing left to do, but I’m not certain about that one. Now Brandon, I would try not to stress about it too much, even if things don’t shape up the way you want them to down there. I promise you that you are far more concerned about the length of your penis than any future partners will be, so try not to worry about it. And for the record, the average penis length is 5.5 to 6 inches long when erect, so make sure you’re keeping your standards reasonable. Good luck.
